Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, recently chaired a meeting of the Council aimed at advancing the judicial system in Dubai.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting saw the approval of the Judges’ Career Paths project, a strategic initiative designed to enhance judicial competencies and improve the quality and efficiency of judicial work. This move is expected to further strengthen the rule of law in the emirate. His Highness also sanctioned the formation of a team to explore a unified technical platform for Dubai’s judicial bodies and their support entities, alongside the launch of the Judicial Inspection Authority’s digital platform. This platform offers interactive services to members of the judiciary.
The meeting also approved 36 Emirati judicial trainees for the Dubai Judicial Institute’s Judicial and Legal Studies programme. This initiat
ive is part of efforts to prepare them for future roles as judges in Dubai courts. Sheikh Maktoum highlighted that the Judges Career Paths project aligns with the ambitious vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to develop qualified judges to contribute to a comprehensive judicial system, thereby enhancing Dubai’s global standing.
Sheikh Maktoum stressed the importance of bolstering Emirati expertise within the judiciary, ensuring that legal professionals gain the necessary skills to advance the sector. He lauded the Dubai Judicial Council for its efforts in strengthening the judicial system and the rule of law, emphasizing the commitment to providing resources to maximize judicial efficiency and deliver prompt and accurate justice.
During the meeting, Sheikh Maktoum reviewed key development plans for judicial entities, underscoring the Judges’ Career Paths project’s role in developing specialized cadres to keep pace with legal and social transformations. The project is ali
gned with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to enhance judicial efficiency and solidify Dubai’s global leadership in justice.
The project comprises three tracks: Specialized, Elite, and Leadership, each focusing on cultivating specific skills and expertise within the judiciary. The Judicial Coordination Affairs Council supervises the project to ensure it meets Dubai’s strategic goals and international standards. The successful implementation of this project by Dubai Courts marks a significant step towards a robust judicial future, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to a safe and fair community.
Sheikh Maktoum also launched a digital platform for the Judicial Inspection Authority, providing interactive services for judiciary members to review performance indicators and track case resolution speed. Additionally, the Judicial Council endorsed recommendations on judicial promotions and ratified regulations concerning seniority and promotions for its members.
