Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Chairs Key AI Council Meeting in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi:In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired a significant meeting of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council on October 6, 2026.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the progress of Abu Dhabi's artificial intelligence and advanced technology initiatives. Key priorities discussed included the UAE-US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, advancements in AI research, the development of specialized talent and open AI models, and the government's progress toward becoming the world's first fully AI-native government by 2027.

H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the emirate's ambitions not just to adopt AI but to develop these technologies and shape an economy centered around them. He emphasized the importance of directing investments, research, and international partnerships to build a robust scientific and technological base, enabling local institutions and citizens to generate knowledge, create new industries, and develop a government model with AI at its core.

The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General of the Council, along with other council members including Dr. Ahmed Mubarak bin Nawi Al Mazrouei, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, and several others. Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Crown Prince's Office, was also present.

The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council is Abu Dhabi's leading authority on AI and advanced technology projects, responsible for setting policies, strategies, frameworks, and priorities for investment, research, and development.
