Shura Council Delegation Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Parliament of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay

The delegation of the Saudi-Uruguayan Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Shura Council, led by Council member Dr. Ibrahim bin Mahmoud Al-Nahhas, held a meeting with the Acting President of the General Assembly of the Parliament of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Graciela Bianchi. The Saudi Ambassador to Uruguay, Iyad bin Ghazi Hakim, was also present.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Uruguayan Parliament. They emphasized the significance of collaboration between the two countries across different sectors and levels, with the goal of advancing shared interests.

Furthermore, the Shura Council’s Saudi-Uruguayan Parliamentary Friendship Committee engaged with the Friendship Group, as well as the International Affairs Committees of the Uruguayan Senate and the House of Representatives. The discussions focused on the importance of bolstering parliamentary diplomacy, promoting dialogue on issues of common concern, exchanging expertise and experiences, and enhancing cooperation programs.

Additionally, as part of their visit, the Shura Council delegation met with the Secretary of the Presidency of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Alvaro Delgado, and Uruguay’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicolas Albertoni. The talks centered on bilateral relations and avenues for their further development across various sectors. The meeting also touched upon Saudi Vision 2030 and its ambitious goals, along with the Kingdom’s efforts to support regional and international security and stability.

During the visit, the Shura Council delegation also met with Uruguay’s Vice Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, Juan Ignacio Buffa, as well as other officials at Uruguay’s Investment Promotion Agency. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen investment cooperation and explore opportunities between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.

Furthermore, the delegation of the Saudi-Uruguayan Parliamentary Friendship Committee at the Shura Council had a meeting with the Secretary of Sports of Uruguay, Sebastian Bauza, and officials from the Uruguayan Football Association. They also visited the sports museum to learn more about Uruguay’s sporting heritage and initiatives.
