Atlacomulco: Ten people were killed and at least 61 were injured in central Mexico when a freight train collided with a double-decker passenger bus. The train operator reported that the bus was attempting to pass in front of the moving train.
According to Emirates News Agency, the tragic collision occurred in an industrial area on the highway connecting Atlacomulco, a town approximately 115 kilometers northwest of Mexico City, and Maravatio in Michoacan state. Local authorities provided these details in the aftermath of the incident.
Images from the crash site depicted the top deck of the bus with its front part severely damaged and its metal frame significantly dented. First responders quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to manage the situation and attend to the victims.
