TRENDS and UAE Space Agency Sign MoU to Boost Academic Research in Space Sector

Dubai: TRENDS Research and Advisory has signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE Space Agency to enhance cooperation in academic research, future studies, polling, training, and capacity building, which aims to support the growth of the UAE’s space sector and its knowledge economy. The agreement was formalized during the 19th Dubai Airshow by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, and Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, with officials from both organizations present.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU encompasses joint research and report preparation for the Abu Dhabi Space Dialogue, as well as documentation of workshops and discussions. It also includes analysis of outputs tied to future policy development, with a focus on strengthening expertise in policy and research fields. Dr. Al-Ali highlighted that the partnership represents a significant step in generating future knowledge to support public policy, noting that the space sector is a priority for the nation. TRENDS will conduct specialized studies on space policies, economic and social impacts, cybersecurity, and technological innovation.

Dr. Al-Ali further stated that both organizations will design opinion polls to assess public views on UAE space programs, while also initiating joint training efforts to develop skills in research, data analysis, and future studies. Al Qubaisi mentioned that the partnership aligns with the Agency’s strategy to establish effective collaborations with leading research and academic institutions. He stressed that integrating research with practical space-sector applications will accelerate innovation and strengthen national capabilities.

Al Qubaisi added that the cooperation will support proactive knowledge production for policymaking, develop Emirati talent in advanced research fields, and create dialogue platforms to explore challenges and opportunities in space and advanced technology. These efforts, he noted, will reinforce scientific research and future foresight as foundations for a prosperous future for upcoming generations.
