Twitter: Change Policy for Displaying Tweets Is Emergency Measure

Visitors to the Twitter social networking site were surprised by their inability to see the tweets, a move that owner Elon Musk on Friday called a “temporary emergency measure”.

Previously, Twitter visitors were able to view and see tweets without having to log in with their Twitter account. However, the platform chose to change this policy and force every visitor to log in to be able to see the tweets.

Twitter owner Elon Musk said in a tweet that they were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading service for normal users, adding that the new decision is a temporary emergency measure.

Musk has previously expressed displeasure at artificial intelligence firms using Twitters data to train their large language models.

The company has initiated a range of measures to bring back advertisers who left the platform and to increase subscription revenue.
