UAE and Japan Enhance Collaboration in Industry and Technology

Tokyo:The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) recently concluded a working visit to Japan, focusing on strengthening cooperation in industry, technology, and artificial intelligence. Meetings were held in Tokyo and Kyoto to explore opportunities for innovation and scientific advancements that can be transformed into practical solutions for enhancing industrial competitiveness.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoIAT delegation was led by Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Undersecretary of the Ministry. He participated in the UAE-Japan Technology and Artificial Intelligence Roundtable in Tokyo and the 23rd Science and Technology in Society Forum Ministerial Roundtable in Kyoto. These events included officials and representatives from both countries' public and private sectors.

Discussions in Tokyo emphasized strengthening industrial partnerships and enhancing the adoption of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, and digital manufacturing. These technologies aim to improve productivity, quality, and sustainability within the industrial sector.

In Kyoto, the discussions focused on linking academic research with industry to apply scientific advances in real-world manufacturing environments. The goal is to turn innovative ideas into practical solutions that meet factory requirements and production challenges.

The UAE's competitive industrial ecosystem serves as a platform for piloting, deploying, and scaling technology-driven solutions. The Factory Forward UAE initiative connects technology providers with the industrial sector, facilitating the testing and adoption of promising solutions. Additionally, the UAE's international partnerships and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements offer manufacturers opportunities to expand into global markets.

Al Nowais highlighted the long-standing economic partnership between the UAE and Japan, which spans multiple sectors. This relationship provides significant opportunities to deepen industrial and technological collaboration, exchange expertise, and foster innovation.

He emphasized the importance of creating direct partnerships between technology providers and UAE manufacturers to develop pilot projects using advanced industrial solutions, including AI-powered quality inspection and predictive maintenance. These efforts are complemented by skill development and initiatives to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies across industries.

The visit concluded with an invitation for Japanese companies, investors, and industrial leaders to participate in the "Make it in the Emirates" event, scheduled in Abu Dhabi from May 3 to 6, 2027.
