Abu dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, President of the Republic of Korea, held discussions today to enhance cooperation and advance the Special Strategic Partnership and Comprehensive Economic Partnership between the two countries. The talks took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, the leaders explored opportunities to broaden these frameworks to serve shared interests and contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of their peoples. His Highness welcomed the Korean President, expressing confidence that the visit would deepen UAE-Korea relations and advance their shared vision for sustainable growth.
The two sides reviewed key areas of cooperation, focusing on economic, trade, and investment sectors, along with renewable energy. They also discussed fields such as technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, education, and culture, exploring promising opportunities to expand collaboration in line with both countries’ development priorities.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to broadening cooperation, guided by a shared vision for progress and the strong potential for joint initiatives. They exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual concern, underscoring the importance of supporting efforts to promote peace, stability, and development, particularly in the Middle East.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed emphasized the strategic relationship between the UAE and Korea, built on trust, mutual respect, and a commitment to development and prosperity. He affirmed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen economic and trade relations and invest in a future-oriented partnership with Korea.
His Highness highlighted the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2024 as a milestone marking a new phase of economic cooperation between the two countries. He noted Korea as one of the UAE’s leading trade partners and highlighted the progress in bilateral relations, serving as a model for constructive engagement.
His Excellency Lee Jae-myung spoke of the strong ties between the UAE and Korea and their shared commitment to building on them, especially in technology, artificial intelligence, energy, and culture. He expressed his pleasure at visiting the UAE and highlighted the close strategic ties between the two countries.
President Lee thanked His Highness for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation, wishing the UAE continued progress and prosperity. To mark the occasion, His Highness hosted a luncheon in honor of the Korean President and his delegation.
Earlier, His Highness and the Korean President greeted a community group at the welcome ceremony, including students, engineers, and specialists in the nuclear energy sector, as well as an economic delegation from both nations.
The talks were attended by several UAE officials, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, among others. The Korean President was accompanied by a delegation of ministers and senior officials.
