UAE and Korea Explore Joint Cooperation in Library Sector

Seoul: Dr. Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, engaged in discussions with Jung Mi-young, Director General of the National Assembly Library in Busan, Republic of Korea, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation and sharing expertise between the two nations in the library sector.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting coincided with the 2026 IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC 2026), which was held from August 10 to 13. During the discussions, both parties considered various areas for joint cooperation that aim to bolster the exchange of knowledge and expertise. They also focused on enhancing communication between library institutions and leveraging advanced experiences and practices in developing library and knowledge services.

Al Ali and his delegation were briefed on pioneering experiences and advanced practices in the fields of libraries and knowledge services in Korea. They were introduced to innovative solutions and services implemented by Korean library institutions, particularly in knowledge management, information organization, digital transformation, and user services. These insights are intended to help adapt to the rapid developments occurring in the library sector and information technologies.
