Nagoya:The UAE national athletics team finished seventh in the mixed 4x400-metre relay final at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, with a time of 3:21.94. The team, which included Suleiman Abdulrahman, Aminat Kamarudeen, Mariam Kareem, and Emmanuel Bamidele, had been in medal contention until a baton drop by Mariam Kareem affected their performance.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE had reached the final after securing third place in their heat with a time of 3:17.00, finishing behind China and India.

In other events, UAE fencers Khalifa Al Zarooni and Saleh Al Balooshi advanced to the Round of 32 in the men's individual ©p©e. Al Zarooni achieved three victories before losing 15-5 to Jang Hyomin of the Republic of Korea, and Al Balooshi recorded two wins before being defeated 15-5 by Kazakhstan's Ruslan Kurbanov. Al Zarooni noted his experience was valuable, citing close bouts and technical lessons learned.

In the shooting competition, Ahmed Abdullah Al Ameeri scored 566 points in the men's 10-metre air pistol event, finishing 39th out of 60 competitors, while Mohammed Saleh placed 48th with 559 points.

The UAE dressage team is ready for competition after their horses passed a veterinary inspection and participated in a familiarisation session at JRA Equestrian Park in Tokyo. Representing the UAE in the team and individual Small Tour events will be Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, Bianca Schtz, Mohamed Jassim Alserkal, and Natalie Lankester. The team competition starts with the UAE in fifth place in the starting order among nine nations.

UAE participation will also continue on Friday with events in athletics, swimming, weightlifting, and esports. The dressage competition will begin at 09:30 Japan Standard Time, or 04:30 UAE time, with the team classification decided by the combined scores of the three highest-scoring combinations from each nation. The competition will proceed with individual qualifiers leading to the final.
