Samara: The United Arab Emirates participated in the First Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting on Sports, themed ‘From Traditions to Innovations: The Future of Sports in the ACD Countries.’ This meeting was held alongside the 13th International Sports Forum, ‘Russia – Country of Sports,’ in Samara, Russian Federation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE was represented by Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Sports. The gathering included ministers and officials from member states, as well as representatives from regional and international sports organizations. The meeting underscored a collective commitment among Asian nations to bolster cooperation, explore partnership frameworks, and share expertise within the sports sector. Additionally, there was a focus on developing joint programs and initiatives aimed at empowering youth and advancing sports both continentally and globally.
During the meeting, Al Hajeri highlighted the importance the UAE places on international cooperation, particularly in the sports sector, under the guidance of its leadership. He noted that sports serve as a universal language, fostering cooperation, friendship, and understanding among the peoples of Asia and the world.
Al Hajeri also addressed the role of technological advancements in sports, emphasizing the importance of innovation in enhancing physical performance, training methods, and implementing smart governance. He underscored the necessity of investing in modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data analytics to achieve sporting excellence and cultivate future champions.
Furthermore, Al Hajeri discussed the UAE Strategy aimed at advancing the national sports ecosystem. This strategy focuses on fostering innovation and supporting initiatives to identify and nurture young talent, considered the cornerstone of sustainable development in sports. He stated that investing in youth equates to investing in the sustainability of sporting achievements and their positive societal impact.
The ACD Ministerial Meeting covered several important themes, including the enhancement of cooperation among Asian countries in sports infrastructure development, talent identification, capacity building, and increasing community involvement in sports. Additionally, the discussions explored the exchange of expertise in modern sports policies, training, and sports management innovation.
