UAE Engages in UN-Habitat Executive Board Meetings in Nairobi


Nairobi: Mohammed Al Mansoori, Under-Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, led the UAE delegation at the third session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in Nairobi, Kenya. This marked the UAE’s inaugural participation in the meetings since its election as President of the UN-Habitat General Assembly and as a member of the Executive Board for 2025, underscoring the UAE’s expanding international presence and its role in global housing and sustainable urban development.



According to Emirates News Agency, Al Mansoori highlighted that the UAE’s leadership of UN-Habitat represents an increased responsibility and a significant opportunity to influence the future of global urban planning and housing. The presidency enables the UAE to promote innovative solutions that improve quality of life and address rapid urban transformations.



He stated that during its presidency, the UAE aims to support innovation and modern technologies in city development, enhancing global efforts towards a more inclusive and sustainable urban system in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. Al Mansoori also noted the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with international partners and UN institutions to back the UN-Habitat system and spearhead initiatives for sustainable urban development and future-ready cities equipped to tackle emerging challenges.
