UAE Media Council Hosts Workshop on AI’s Role in Future Media Landscape

Dubai: The UAE Media Council, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, organized a specialized workshop titled “Engineering the New Media Era with Artificial Intelligence” on November 17th and 18th. The event took place at the New Media Academy at Creators HQ in Emirates Towers.

According to Emirates News Agency, the workshop featured participation from experts and specialists across media, news, and marketing departments in GCC countries. Participants received extensive training on various artificial intelligence tools tailored for the media sector, aiming to empower Gulf media professionals by enhancing their leadership capabilities and professional readiness.

The initiative seeks to support the production of accurate and reliable content, accelerate publishing processes, improve media work quality, and foster creativity across multiple platforms. Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized that empowering talent with artificial intelligence is crucial for the future competitiveness of the media sector. He highlighted the importance of continuous programs, policies, and strategies to enhance the readiness and appeal of media professionals in the GCC countries.

Al Shehhi also noted that developing media capabilities with advanced technologies creates an innovative environment, paving the way for pioneering media and creative projects in the region. He stressed that investing in skills is crucial for the future of media, citing international estimates that project the AI market in media and entertainment to reach US$99.48 billion by 2030. He praised the advanced level of participants, stating that Gulf media talent is well-equipped to lead the new media era, and their commitment to knowledge expansion enhances the practical impact of these programs.

The workshop covered the story and impact of artificial intelligence in media, followed by practical applications of advanced tools for producing smart, creative, and publication-ready media content. Participants were trained to transform editorial work into intelligent systems, ensuring adherence to professional ethics and reinforcing credibility through content verification.

The practical component concluded with training on designing a smart assistant, known as an AI Agent, to assist in various daily tasks, both routine and research-related.
