UAE National Team Secures Seven Medals at World Jiu-Jitsu Championship


Bangkok: The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team began their participation in the 2025 World Championships (U16, U18, U21) in Bangkok, Thailand, which runs from November 8 to 14, with a commendable achievement of seven medals. The team won two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals in the boys’ under-16 category.

According to Emirates News Agency, Ali Alnajar and Hazza Alkaabi clinched gold in the 52kg and 56kg categories, respectively. Rakan Alyammahi and Ghanem Alali secured silver in the 44kg and 52kg divisions. Moreover, Mohammed Juma Aldarmaki, Khalfan Alqubaisi, and Fahad Saoud Aldhaheri earned bronze in the 40kg, 56kg, and 62kg categories, marking a significant beginning for the UAE team on the championship’s opening day.

The World Championships (U16, U18, U21) is a crucial event on the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation’s calendar, allowing teams from various continents to compete in three primary age categories: under 16, under 18, and under 21.

Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Depar
tment at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, acknowledged the athletes’ strong performances on the first day. He stated that the results indicate a promising start for the national team in this significant event. Al Menhali emphasized that the day’s achievements highlight a new generation of athletes who embody the vision of building a robust base of champions capable of competing at the highest levels. He attributed these successes to the preparation programs and training camps focused on skill development and mental discipline.

He further noted that the national team’s performances reflect their confidence and belief in their abilities, showcasing that investing in youth divisions is a strategic approach to securing the continued success of UAE Jiu-Jitsu.

Ali Alnajar, the gold medallist in the 52 kg category, expressed his pride in winning gold at the World Championship, describing it as a dream come true. He dedicated his victory to the UAE leadership and the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, acknowledging the support and
resources provided. Similarly, Hazza Alkaabi, gold medallist in the 56kg division, highlighted the strong competition and credited focus and team spirit for their success.

The championship will continue on Sunday, November 9, with the females’ under-16 category, where the UAE team aims to build on their strong start and increase their medal count.
