UAE Parliamentary Division Engages in Middle East Discussions at IPU Meeting in Geneva

Geneva: Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, Vice Chair of the UAE Parliamentary Division in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), participated in the Committee on Middle East Questions meeting during the 151st IPU Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting focused on addressing the complex challenges faced by the Middle East region, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and cooperation.

According to Emirates News Agency, Falaknaz highlighted the sensitive political, security, social, and humanitarian issues affecting the Middle East. She stressed the necessity of adopting wisdom and dialogue to resolve these crises and achieve sustainable development, which she identified as crucial for regional stability and prosperity.

Falaknaz also emphasized the UAE’s significant humanitarian contributions, particularly its support for the Palestinian people in Gaza. Under UAE leadership, Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has provided extensive assistance through land, sea, and air, costing over US$1.8 billion over two years. This initiative includes delivering food, clothing, and medical supplies, evacuating the injured for treatment, offering psychological support, expanding hospitals, and restoring health centers in Gaza.

Additionally, the UAE has supplied drinking water through desalination plants, repaired wells, conducted vaccination campaigns for children, supported education by distributing school bags, and operated bakeries to meet daily needs in Gaza. The committee meeting also reviewed a report on its role within the IPU framework, monitoring Middle East issues, supporting peace efforts, and discussing proposed amendments to its structure and rules of procedure.
