Berlin: Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE Special Envoy to Germany, concluded a visit to Berlin aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations and exploring cooperation in strategic sectors. Dr. Al Jaber, who also serves as the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Group CEO of ADNOC, engaged in high-level discussions with German government officials and private sector leaders. Accompanying him was Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to Germany.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Jaber met with Dr. Johann David Wadephul, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Serap Gler, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office. They explored strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding collaboration across key sectors. The discussions emphasized the strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany, focusing on economic and diplomatic ties to promote sustainable development.
During a meeting with Katharina Reiche, Minister of Economy and Energy, discussions centered on the UAE-Germany Energy Partnership and opportunities in energy, industry, and trade sectors. Both parties acknowledged the role of the private sector in fostering economic growth and sustainable development.
Dr. Al Jaber also held meetings with Thorsten Frei, Head of the Federal Chancellery, and other high-ranking officials to discuss expanding trade and industrial collaboration. In talks with Dr. Volker Treier from the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce, the focus was on enhancing institutional cooperation to boost trade and investment partnerships.
Meetings with parliamentary committee heads further underscored the importance of strategic partnerships and the role of legislative frameworks in enabling sectoral integration. Bilateral trade between the UAE and Germany has shown significant growth, reaching AED50 billion in 2024, driven by a rise in UAE exports, particularly pearls and machinery.
The first four months of 2025 saw a 17.7% increase in trade, with exports of pearls and machinery playing a crucial role. This visit by Dr. Al Jaber highlights the ongoing commitment to strengthening UAE-Germany relations across various sectors.
