UAE Strengthens Commitment to Disaster Risk Reduction

Tunis:Ali Saeed Alneyadi, Chairman of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), has reiterated the UAE's dedication to enhancing its disaster risk reduction efforts. His statement aligns with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026, themed 'Resilience Starts at Home.'

According to Emirates News Agency, Alneyadi emphasized the importance of individual preparedness, family readiness, and the collaboration of institutions and communities. The UAE is focused on advancing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 through a national strategy that involves understanding risks, improving governance, investing in resilience, and boosting response capabilities.

The NCEMA is actively translating these strategies into community-focused initiatives that aim to increase risk awareness and promote early preparedness. Efforts include training the public, especially in remote and high-risk areas, in essential skills such as first aid and emergency response. These initiatives are part of a broader national and international agenda, illustrated by events like the Global Emergency and Crisis Management Summit.

Alneyadi stressed the significance of being prepared before crises strike, reinforcing the need for informed families and communities ready to act. He reaffirmed NCEMA's ongoing commitment to bolstering the UAE's emergency management systems, supporting the Sendai Framework goals, and ensuring a safer, more resilient future for the nation.
