Abu dhabi: The UAE Women's Jiu-Jitsu National Team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, has significantly bolstered the country's position at the 10th Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship by securing six medals in the women's competition on Saturday at Almaty Arena in Kazakhstan. The team emerged victorious with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
According to Emirates News Agency, the recent achievements have elevated the UAE's total medal count to 15 over two days, following the men's achievement of nine medals on Friday. This accomplishment places the UAE team in a strong position for the top spot in the overall standings.
The UAE women's team performances underscore the pivotal role Emirati women play in the nation's sporting triumphs. The support from the UAE's leadership has been fundamental to this success, establishing a system that identifies and develops talent, preparing athletes to compete at high levels both continentally and internationally.
Gold medals were earned by Asma Al-Hosani in the Under 52kg category and Shamma Al-Kalbani in the Under 63kg category. Alaonod Alharbi secured a silver medal in the Under 48kg division, while bronze medals were obtained by Hamda Alshkeili (Under 45kg), Balqees Abdullah (Under 48kg), and Hessa Al-Shamsi (Under 52kg).
