UAE’s Achievements in Fighting Polio Underscore Excellence of Healthcare System: Ministry of Health Undersecretary

Abu dhabi: Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, highlighted the UAE's accomplishments in eradicating polio as a demonstration of the leadership and effectiveness of its healthcare system. This system plays a key role in protecting society from diseases through a thorough preventive approach.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Olama made a statement on World Polio Day, emphasizing that the UAE has maintained a polio-free status for over three decades. This achievement is attributed to the nation's wise leadership, strategic planning, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and international health partnerships. Such efforts have prioritized public health as a national concern to improve quality of life, ensuring present security and a promising future in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Al Olama stated, "In the UAE, the fight against polio is a steadfast commitment that reflects the nation's belief that protecting human life begins from childhood, and that a child's health forms the basis upon which the future of society is built."
