Abu dhabi: The seventh edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) 2026, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, concluded successfully at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event, which took place from January 20th to 22nd, showcased the latest advancements in autonomous systems technology. Organised by ADNEC Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, and in partnership with EDGE Group and Abu Dhabi Mobility, the 2026 edition attracted 37,878 visitors, marking a 45 percent increase compared to the 2024 edition. The event also recorded participation from 390 exhibitors from 40 countries, showing significant growth in both exhibitors and international representation.
The Tawazun Council announced deals valued at AED3.6 billion during the event. These agreements emphasize the strategic focus on enhancing defence capabilities and fostering technology adoption. Brigadier General Mohammed Obaid Al Marashdi, Chairman of the Organising Committee, highlighted the event’s success as a milestone that strengthens the UAE’s position as a hub for future technologies.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC Group, noted the unprecedented participation and the event’s role in knowledge exchange and partnership building, aligning with the UAE’s vision for a diversified, knowledge-based economy. The event featured a blend of national and international companies, providing a platform for launching products, networking, and business growth.
The exhibition included live demonstrations of unmanned systems and the introduction of the Future of Autonomy Stage, addressing the integration of autonomous mobility into various sectors. The Defence 4.0 event and UMEX ELEVATE Autonomous Investors Summit further highlighted the strategic significance of Abu Dhabi as a global hub for unmanned systems.
The Autonomous Racing League Drone Championship debuted at UMEX and SimTEX, bringing global AI teams and pilots to compete, showcasing innovations in aerial autonomy. Strategic partners and sponsors including the Ministry of Defence, Tawazun Council, and various councils and institutes supported the event.
UMEX and SimTEX 2026 underscored Abu Dhabi’s role in advancing autonomous systems and defence technologies globally. As the event anticipates its next edition in 2028, it continues to lead in shaping the future of these sectors, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to technological progress and international cooperation.
