US Approves $2.1 Billion Sale of Patriot Missiles to Ukraine

Washington:The US State Department has approved a potential sale of 500 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) missiles and associated equipment to Ukraine, with the transaction estimated at $2.1 billion.

According to Wam, the State Department announced that the sale would be fully funded through contributions from Canada, Germany, and Norway, in addition to financing from the European Union's Ukraine Support Loan, ensuring that no US funds are involved.

The proposed sale aims to bolster US foreign policy and national security by enhancing the security of Ukraine, a partner nation contributing to the political and economic stability of Europe. Lockheed Martin is designated as the principal contractor for this sale. The transaction does not necessitate the deployment of additional US representatives to Ukraine nor does it impact US defense readiness. Furthermore, no offset agreements have been suggested thus far.
