The US State Department issued an alert Wednesday, urging citizens to depart Haiti as soon as possible via commercial or private transport.
The alert on the Department’s (X) account also noted that non-emergency US government personnel and eligible family members for Embassy Port-au-Prince were ordered to departure.
The “Do not travel” alert to Haiti came, according to the Department, due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.
Last July, the Department issued a similar alert citing “security situation and infrastructure challenges”.
