Caracas: Venezuela and the Dominican Republic have agreed on a plan to restore diplomatic ties, which were severed two years ago, as announced by Venezuela's Foreign Ministry on Sunday. The two countries have committed to normalizing diplomatic and consular relations through a gradual process facilitated by a mutually agreed-upon roadmap, following recent dialogues between their representatives.

According to Emirates News Agency, this decision underscores the shared interest of both nations in strengthening institutional communication channels. The renewed diplomatic efforts aim to benefit the citizens of both countries, while also acknowledging the historic friendship that has long united Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Diplomatic relations were previously severed in July 2024 when Caracas accused Santo Domingo of interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs concerning its presidential election.
