The event was part of the Council's Social Sector Committee and aimed to shape national strategic priorities for People of Determination.
According to Emirates News Agency , the workshop convened leaders from various entities to discuss a national strategy for People of Determination, focusing on proposed programs, initiatives, and implementation mechanisms. The discussions emphasized empowering People of Determination, enhancing their quality of life, and supporting their families through improved coordination among federal and local entities.
Participants highlighted the importance of governance, monitoring, and leveraging data to inform decision-making. Discussions also addressed investment in specialized talent, developing accessible services, and enhancing support for families and caregivers. The workshop aimed to connect inclusive education with rehabilitation, employment pathways, and broader societal participation.
H.H. Sheikha Mariam emphasized the UAE's vision of enabling individuals to participate fully in society. She stated that the focus is on building an integrated system supporting people throughout their lives, creating pathways for learning, employment, and independence.
Sana bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family, noted the UAE's commitment to safeguarding the rights of People of Determination and fostering an inclusive environment. She highlighted the need for collaboration among entities and a clear understanding of the experiences of People of Determination and their families.
The workshop followed extensive consultations, including interviews with stakeholders and input from international experts. Participants included several ministers and officials from various government and community development bodies, reflecting a wide-ranging and collaborative approach to developing a national strategy for People of Determination.
