The Brazilian national football team defeated Ecuador 1-0 today in the seventh round of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) qualifiers for the World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026.
The only goal of the match was scored by Rodrigo in the 30th minute after a powerful shot from outside the penalty area which deflected off the defender before hitting the crossbar and finding the net.
The victory is the first for the Brazilian team in three matches since losing to Uruguay, Colombia, and Argentina. The Brazilian team came into the match in sixth place, but thanks to their victory over Ecuador, they raised their points tally to 10, moving up to fourth place. The Ecuadorian team suffered their first defeat after three wins and two draws, leaving their points tally at eight, placing them in sixth place.
