World Green Economy Summit 2026 to Gather Global Leaders and Experts in Dubai

Dubai:The 12th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is set to take place on October 21st and 22nd, 2026, at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The summit is organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

According to Emirates News Agency, the summit, themed 'From Success to Scale Showcasing the Green Economy,' will feature 135 speakers, including ministers, business leaders, government officials, decision-makers, experts, and innovators from across the globe. Participants will exchange expertise and highlight successful initiatives and models to accelerate the transition towards a green economy.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of WGEO, emphasized the summit's role in shaping the future of sectors related to the green economy. He noted that diverse perspectives contribute to practical discussions and foster cooperation among governments, businesses, investors, international organizations, and innovators, transforming knowledge into sustainable partnerships.

The summit will focus on four main pillars Energy Technology and Infrastructure; Business Strategy and Transition; Water and Food Security; and Finance. Additionally, it will address cross-cutting themes such as Artificial Intelligence, Governance, and System Enablers, including supply chains and the circular economy, to provide an integrated framework for advancing the green transition.

Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), highlighted the event's role in advancing practical solutions for a sustainable energy future and enhancing international collaboration.

Bashar Al-Natoor from Fitch Ratings underscored the importance of developing ESG sukuk, bonds, and sustainability-linked instruments in financing renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, which would strengthen the GCC's position in global sustainable finance.

Nick Falkowski of Meaningful Planet and Avinash Kumar of Earthood both recognized the summit's potential in uniting industry, governments, and organizations to forge partnerships and implement practical actions in the green economy.
