World Green Economy Summit 2026 to Showcase Global Success Stories in Green Economy

Abu dhabi: The 12th edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of October at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The summit will focus on showcasing global success stories and scalable solutions in the green economy through four main thematic pillars: Energy Technology and Infrastructure, Business Strategy and Transition, Water and Food Security, and Finance. The event is organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organisation. This year's theme is 'From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy.'

According to Emirates News Agency, the summit will gather senior officials, decision-makers, infrastructure developers, business leaders, resilience planners, and capital providers to present proven solutions and scalable models. Registration for the event is available through the summit's website. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation, emphasized that the summit reflects a pivotal shift in the global sustainability dialogue. He noted that successful models already exist, and the summit aims to demonstrate how the transition to a green economy can be rapidly and effectively expanded.

The summit will focus on four main thematic pillars and three cross-cutting themes: Artificial Intelligence, Governance, and System Enablers. The Energy Technology and Infrastructure pillar will address the role of energy infrastructure in economic transformation amid rising global energy demand. The Business Strategy and Transition pillar will explore how leading organizations incorporate green growth into their core strategies. The Water and Food Security pillar will tackle the economic and societal imperatives of these resources under climate change pressures. The Finance pillar will focus on the crucial role of finance in moving climate ambitions from planning to execution.

The summit will also address the challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence, Governance, and System Enablers. AI plays a significant role in smarter energy management and environmental risk mitigation, but its energy and water consumption is a growing concern. Effective governance is essential for bridging ambition and implementation, with discussions on policies, regulations, and global carbon markets. The green transition also depends on transforming economic systems, with circular economy models growing across sectors. The global circular economy market is projected to reach US$888 billion by 2030.

Each year, WGES attracts more than 3,300 participants from over 30 countries, including over 80 international speakers and more than 300 media representatives. The event provides a platform to share visions, expertise, and learn from ministers, CEOs, and innovators worldwide.
