The Sheikh Khalifa Stroke Institute (SKSI) at the globally renowned Johns Hopkins Medical and Academic Centre is participating in the sixth edition of the World Stroke Congress 2024 in Abu Dhabi, which begins tomorrow and continues until 26th October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
During the congress, the institute will present the latest research and innovations in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery, while enhancing collaboration with scientists and experts.
The aim is to strengthen cooperation with the international medical community in this specialised field and improve strategies for stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery, as well as raise public awareness of stroke as a critical health issue on both local and global levels.
Dr. Victor Urrutia, Stroke Specialist and Director of the Johns Hopkins Sheikh Khalifa Stroke Institute, stated that Abu Dhabi and the UAE have become a global hub for international medical expertise in stroke care.

roke Institute at Johns Hopkins aims to revolutionise stroke care through international collaboration, advanced innovation, and the establishment of a comprehensive care system that enhances access to stroke treatments, supports patient rehabilitation, and develops strategies for prevention, early intervention, and specialised care to improve outcomes for stroke patients.
At the World Stroke Congress in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Urrutia will discuss the mechanisms for healthcare institutions to obtain stroke care accreditation, methods for establishing and managing tele-stroke networks, and highlight the importance of multidisciplinary care in improving stroke outcomes and treatment standards.
The visiting team from Johns Hopkins will host distinguished figures, including members of the World Stroke Organisation, the Middle East and North Africa Stroke Organisation, and the Stroke Task Force of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Centre.
