ZATCA Urges Individuals to Pay Their Zakat through Zakaty App

Riyadh, The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has urged individuals to voluntarily pay their zakat through the Zakaty smartphone app or via the service’s website, zakaty.gov.sa.

The authority noted that the service allows individuals to pay their zakat through secure and reliable payment methods in banks, using services such as Sadad and Apple Pay, ensuring the service is executed quickly and flexibly.

ZATCA stressed that all amounts received through the service have benefited social security beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The Zakaty service allows users to select the deserving category of social security beneficiaries. It also enables individuals to calculate the obligatory zakat for various types, including cash, gold and silver, stocks, investment funds, and real estate acquired for trade, among others.

The service provides an invoice for the transaction and features reminders for zakat due dates. It also includes a feature to calculate zaka
t on gold based on its purity through a specific formula, with the Zakaty service linked to global gold and silver prices.

The authority noted that individuals can access stock and investment fund prices simply by selecting the stock or fund name, following the authority’s previous efforts to complete the linking process with the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul).

The Zakaty service has seen significant and increasing interaction from individuals, with the total amounts benefiting social security recipients since the service’s launch exceeding SAR700 million.

The service has also witnessed an increase in downloads of the Zakaty app, attributed to the ease and flexibility of using the app, the speed of calculating and paying zakat, and the availability of fast and secure payment options.
