5th Aswan Forum Highlights Africa’s Role in Global Peace and Development

Aswan: The fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development began today in the city of Aswan. The event sees participation from Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, along with several ministers, decision-makers, and representatives from regional and international organizations. It is organized by the Cairo International Centre for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding.

According to Emirates News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in a recorded speech, emphasized Africa's pivotal role in creating a fairer world order. He highlighted the progress made in activating the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and advancing post-conflict reconstruction and development policies, an area where Egypt plays a leading role within the African Union.

United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres also addressed the forum in a recorded message, urging the adoption of African solutions to address African problems. He called for reforms in the global governance system to ensure that Africa receives fair representation in financial institutions and the Security Council.
