Abu dhabi: BRIDGE Summit 2025 on Monday hosted Alexis Ohanian, Founder and General Partner at Seven Seven Six, who shared his insights on the evolving landscape of web technologies. During a session titled ‘Re-turning the Web’, moderated by Nikhil Kumar, Executive Editor at TIME, Ohanian predicted that in a world increasingly defined by AI, activities emphasizing human connection, such as sports and live theatre, will flourish.
According to Emirates News Agency, Ohanian highlighted the significance of the BRIDGE Summit as a testament to the UAE’s, and particularly Abu Dhabi’s, leadership in fostering initiatives that balance the virtual and human realms. He expressed concerns over the authenticity of digital content, noting that a significant portion of social media content is fabricated, and emphasized the growing importance of live events as audiences seek genuine experiences.
Ohanian remarked: “Live events are going to be one of the best parts to come out of this AI wave…The only way humans really got things done was by communicating and working together.” He underscored his optimism for a return to face-to-face interactions.
As audiences grow skeptical of digital content and deep fakes, Ohanian sees a resurgence in live events, with a particular focus on women’s sports. After leaving Reddit, he invested in a women’s football club, Angel City FC, despite initial skepticism about the financial viability of women’s sports. The team has since become one of the most valuable in women’s soccer in the United States.
Ohanian also praised Abu Dhabi for its role in hosting premier sporting events like Formula One and its broader contributions to global problem-solving and innovation. He expressed admiration for the city’s energy and progress, emphasizing his desire to be in a place where people are committed to building and creating solutions.
