CBUAE to Host Second Climate Forum in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi:The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) is set to organize its second Climate Forum on October 8, 2026, in Abu Dhabi. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to enhance the financial sector's resilience and capacity to address climate-related risks while supporting the transition to a sustainable economy.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Forum will convene representatives from central banks, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions. It will focus on strengthening cooperation and sharing expertise in sustainable finance, as well as exploring regulatory frameworks and banking practices to better manage climate risks.

This edition will delve into the strategic implications of climate change, transition plans across various economic sectors, and the financing of these plans. It will also highlight the role of public-private partnerships in facilitating these efforts.

Additionally, the Forum will address sustainable finance priorities, the significance of climate data in informing financial and regulatory decisions, and the impact of climate-related risks on monetary policy and banking supervision.

On October 9, 2026, the CBUAE will also host its inaugural Climate Research Seminar in collaboration with the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise at the London School of Economics and Political Science. This seminar aims to review the latest research on climate, sustainable investment, and monetary policy, contributing to the development of financial and banking policies to tackle climate challenges.

These events are part of CBUAE's initiatives to support the UAE's climate agenda, integrate sustainability principles within the financial sector, and bolster the sector's role in achieving the country's net-zero targets.
