Dubai: Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level delegation from IBM led by Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, Senior Vice President and Chair of IBM EMEA. The meeting aimed at exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity solutions to support Dubai’s vision of developing a leading digital economy rooted in knowledge and innovation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was attended by several key figures from DEWA, including Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub, and Moza Alshamsi, Chief Information Security Officer. During the discussions, Al Tayer underscored the importance of the partnership with IBM, aligning with DEWA’s strategic aims to enhance collaborations with global technology leaders and implement cutting-edge cybersecurity and AI solutions. This initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’, which aims to position Dubai as a leading digital economy.
Al Tayer also elaborated on DEWA’s strategic initiatives to become the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating AI technologies across its operations. The meeting reviewed the ongoing cooperation between Moro Hub, a Digital DEWA subsidiary, and IBM, which includes the adoption of IBM’s QRadar system by Moro to bolster the security of its digital services. As an IBM-certified Managed Services Partner, Moro offers Security Operations Centre as a Service solutions, enhancing clients’ response to cyber threats and facilitating continuous monitoring.
The discussions also covered the potential expansion of cooperation into AI applications via the IBM Watson platform. This is part of a broader strategy to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and accelerate smart transformation across various sectors.
