DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a prominent global organisation specializing in electric power research and development. The collaboration aims to enhance training and implement cutting-edge applications in renewable energy, grid modernisation, and energy storage solutions. According to Emirates News Agency, the partnership will see EPRI provide a range of training programs and courses for DEWA employees in areas such as smart grids, energy efficiency, distribution asset management, cyber security, energy-sector sustainability, data analytics, renewable systems, and photovoltaic integration. The training is designed to empower DEWA's workforce to anticipate and contribute to a sustainable future. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized the importance of the partnership in supporting Dubai's vision of becoming a global hub for clean energy and a knowledge-based econom y. Al Tayer highlighted that DEWA's employees are crucial to the organisation's international achievements and that collaboration with leading research and innovation centers is key to maintaining excellence and leadership. The agreement will support DEWA's efforts to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and its goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of EPRI, stated that the clean energy transition requires collective efforts to address current challenges and future opportunities. Mansoor expressed optimism about the collaboration with DEWA, citing EPRI's global expertise in technology transfer and grid modernisation as key factors in driving innovation for a reliable, affordable, and equitable clean energy transformation.
