Earthquake Hits Sula Islands in Indonesia

An earthquake measuring 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Monday the Sula Islands in Indonesia.

According to the Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 79 km from Sanana Island, one of the Sula Islands, at a depth of 10 km.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage, neither of a possible tsunami as a result of the quake.

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit Sanana Island at a depth of 4 kilometers on Sunday.

Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
