Dubai: The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and New Economy Academy have announced the launch of the Emirati Tax Agent Programme, aiming to empower Emirati talent and qualify a new generation of certified tax agents. The programme is a key component of 'The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World' national campaign, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to position the UAE as a global hub for entrepreneurship.
According to Emirates News Agency, the details of the programme were revealed during a press conference in Dubai, attended by Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of FTA; Sara AlHabshi, Tax Compliance Executive Director at FTA; and Dr. Laila Faridoon, CEO of New Economy Academy. The campaign is supervised by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with the UAE Government Media Office, UAE Council for Entrepreneurship, and various public and private sector partners.
The programme seeks to certify 500 Emirati tax agents through an intensive training course within three years. It offers two accredited diplomas: the Diploma in Value Added Tax (VAT) and the Diploma in Corporate Tax. The VAT diploma is a 6-day course covering the legal framework and practical applications, while the Corporate Tax diploma spans 11 days, focusing on the UAE corporate tax system and real case studies.
The initiative is designed to align with international best practices, empowering UAE nationals to contribute significantly to the business environment and the UAE economy's competitiveness. Khalid Ali Al Bustani emphasized the programme's role in enhancing investor confidence and providing Emiratis with the skills to offer tax consultations at a global standard.
Dr. Laila Faridoon highlighted the programme's alignment with the UAE's vision to empower national talent and enhance the nation's competitive edge. She expressed commitment to preparing Emirati youth to play key roles in building a sustainable, talent-driven economy.
Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax laws, skills in marketing tax services, and confidence to pass professional exams. Graduates can pursue careers in both public and private sectors, further reinforcing the UAE's status as a leading global business hub.
Registration for the programme is available to UAE nationals through the New Economy Academy's website, with course materials provided in English and Arabic.
