Buenos aires: The 2026 FIA American Congress commenced in Buenos Aires on Monday, bringing together representatives from 32 FIA Member Clubs spanning North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean, to deliberate on the future of mobility and motor sport.

According to Emirates News Agency, the congress was officially inaugurated by the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, and FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The three-day event is being hosted by the Autom³vil Club Argentino (ACA).

Prior to the official opening, Ben Sulayem engaged in discussions with President Milei to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation between the FIA and Argentina in the realms of mobility and motorsport. They examined Argentina's aspirations to further develop its motor sport sector, including ambitions in Formula One and other FIA World Championships, leveraging the nation's racing legacy and dedicated fan base.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem highlighted Argentina's significant history in motor sport and its passionate community of fans, competitors, and volunteers. He emphasized the discussions on building upon that heritage, creating new opportunities for the next generation, and supporting Argentina's goal to attract more international motor sport events to the country.

The congress serves as a platform for FIA Member Clubs to exchange expertise and devise solutions to key opportunities and challenges facing motor sport and mobility across the region.
