Humaid Bin Rashid Establishes Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media

Ajman: H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has issued Law No. (2) of 2025, establishing the ‘Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media’ and appointing Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi as its Chairman. Under the new law, this department will replace the Ajman Department of Tourism Development and the Ajman Culture and Media Department, assuming their rights and obligations. Financial allocations from the 2025 government budget for the two former departments will be transferred to the new entity.

According to Emirates News Agency, the law ensures that all employees of the former departments will be transferred to the newly created department, with their existing financial entitlements preserved and without prejudice to their acquired rights. Additionally, an Emiri Decree No. (15) of 2025 has been issued, appointing Mahmood Alhashmi as the Director-General of the department.

The new department aims to develop an integrated legislative framework for tourism, cultural, and media activities, aligning with global trends and ensuring compliance with professional and ethical standards. It seeks to enhance Ajman’s standing in these sectors in line with the emirate’s strategic and developmental vision. Objectives include building a competitive ecosystem to expand services, highlighting Ajman’s landmarks, and strengthening its presence on the cultural and media map.

Further, the department seeks to position Ajman as a global hub by developing national talent and preparing them for leadership roles. It will provide the necessary infrastructure to attract investments, boost GDP, and promote cultural exchange and understanding. The law specifies that the department’s headquarters will be in Ajman, with potential for additional branches upon approval.

Responsibilities of the department include tourism development through policymaking, event management, licensing, and attracting investments. It will also oversee cultural and artistic development, heritage preservation, and support for creative talents. In the media sector, the department will regulate activities, issue licenses, oversee content, and contribute to policy development.

The law abolishes previous legislation related to the former departments while affirming that current regulations will remain until new provisions are issued. It will take effect 90 days after issuance and will be published in the emirate’s Official Gazette.
