PRISTINA: Voting has commenced in Kosovo's snap parliamentary elections to elect 120 lawmakers, with polls opening at 7 a.m. local time. Valdete Daka, head of the Central Election Commission, was among the first to vote, urging Kosovars to participate before the polls close at 7 p.m.
According to Emirates News Agency, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci emphasized the importance of high citizen participation and a transparent election process. In a Facebook post dated October 6, Thaci expressed that the new government should prioritize improving citizens' lives and addressing forthcoming challenges. He highlighted Kosovo's tradition of conducting commendable elections, expressing hope for a positive outcome.
Approximately 1.9 million Kosovars are eligible to vote in this election, marking the fourth parliamentary election since Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008.
