The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mohamed Sharaf Al-Mutahar, directed that strict measures be taken to prevent the entry of goods bearing Zionist logos and promoting homosexuality and to take action against importers of such goods.
Minister Al-Mutahhar confirmed, during the meeting that was held today in the presence of the Deputy Minister, Ahmed Muhammad Al-Shawtari, and included the leadership and cadres of the Yemeni Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control, that the Ministry is in the process of drawing up a black list against merchants and importers who prove their intention to introduce goods that violate the principles of Islam and target the morals, customs and traditions of our Yemeni people, it will take strict and deterrent measures against them and stop their activities.
He noted the significant role played by the Authority in protecting Yemeni society in terms of both goods that were harmful to the individual's health and those aimed at the morality of society.
He stressed the importance of raising society's awareness of these goods and their dangerous objectives aimed at the culture and morality of our society. He pointed out the need to register all goods traded in the Yemeni market with all their data, whether produced locally or imported by the Authority, in order to prevent the entry or exchange of any unregistered goods.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce commended the actions taken by the Authority on the implementation of the ban on entry of Swedish goods in response to the abuse of the Sharif Museum and Islamic holy sites.
The Authority's leadership and cadres are valued in developing working mechanisms and closing gaps, which have been a source of shortcomings in the work of the Authority and completing the automation of all sample checks to contribute to the speed of entry of goods and consumer protection.
The Minister of Industry and Trade noted the Authority's role in supporting local producers by providing technical advice for quality development, especially small producers.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade stressed the importance of the role of the Authority in protecting society from adulterated goods that pose a threat to the lives of citizens and the national economy.
He stressed the importance of developing various inspection mechanisms to ensure the quality of all goods and goods entering our country.
In turn, the Director General of the Authority, Sam Al-Bashiri, reviewed plans and programmes to develop the mechanisms of the work of the Authority to ensure the achievement of the Authority's consumer protection objectives.
He stressed the need to strengthen the role of the Authority in the process of examining everything that enters the country and to prevent the entry of unserviceable and non-conforming goods and goods with emblems offensive to the Islamic religion and the morality of our society.
The meeting approved the convening of an expanded workshop involving the Ministry, the Authority and the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry on the prevention of goods and goods bearing slogans offensive to religion and the morals of society.
