Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Finance (MoF), in collaboration with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), organized an awareness event as part of the eInvoicing Programme Awareness Campaign. This initiative aims to assist businesses in the UAE in transitioning to a comprehensive digital invoicing system.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to helping the business sector adapt to digital transformation. It focused on increasing awareness, offering guidance, and outlining practical steps for joining the eInvoicing system via the EmaraTax digital tax services platform. Attendees included Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the FTA, senior officials, and representatives from both government and private sectors.
AlKhoori emphasized the eInvoicing system’s significant role in advancing the UAE’s goal of creating an integrated digital financial system. He highlighted the system’s potential to enhance tax compliance, reduce the tax gap, and improve the business experience. The system is designed to boost efficiency, particularly for small and medium enterprises, by reducing costs and administrative procedures, thereby positively affecting cash flows.
AlKhoori also noted that the Ministry and the FTA are the official information sources for the eInvoicing Programme. They will continue to provide guidance and support to ensure its successful implementation and reinforce the UAE’s position as a hub for financial and technological innovation.
Al Bustani remarked that the eInvoicing system marks a significant shift toward enhancing voluntary tax compliance through digital mechanisms. He explained that the system simplifies and automates invoicing processes, enabling the exchange of electronic invoices and credit notes in a digital format that supports real-time data exchange and automated tax reporting.
The event underscored the government’s supportive, gradual approach to implementation, allowing businesses to voluntarily join the programme before official deadlines. Panel sessions focused on readiness and practical application, efficiency gains, and simplified compliance, while addressing frequently asked questions and anticipated challenges.
The Ministry highlighted the eInvoicing programme’s value in accelerating digital transformation, reducing costs, and improving operational efficiency. Automation enhances invoice processing speed, cash flow, and working capital management, especially for SMEs. The programme also supports verified transaction data access, facilitates cross-border trade, and contributes to environmental sustainability.
The eInvoicing system operates under a clear framework, with the Ministry of Finance responsible for regulation and supervision, while the FTA manages operations, supported by updates to tax procedures and relevant laws.
