Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity Undergoes Name Change

Dubai: In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Decree No. (36) of 2025, which changes the name of the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment’ (MBRCH) to the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment’.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment’, originally established under Decree No. (13) of 1997, will now operate under its new name as a non-profit foundation serving the public interest. The Establishment is guided by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is overseen by its Supreme Chairman, working in coordination with relevant government authorities and international organisations.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment undertakes various charitable and humanitarian programmes, including initiatives in development, culture, social welfare, education, health, and religion. It supports health programmes, offers financial assistance to patients in need, and aids students and educational institutions. It also provides support to families with limited income and participates in relief efforts during crises.

The Decree mandates the Establishment to adhere to the legislation and policies of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and the Community Development Authority in Dubai. This includes compliance with Law No. (12) of 2017 on non-profit organisations, Decree No. (9) of 2015 on fundraising, and Decree No. (9) of 2022 on public interest entities, among others.

This Decree supersedes Decree No. (13) of 1997 and its amendments, while Decree No. (49) of 2023 and Resolution No. (29) of 2023 regarding the Supreme Chairman and the Board of Trustees remain effective. Previous decisions will continue until they conflict with the new Decree, which is effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.
