Lahore: Heavy rains and flash flooding across Pakistan have resulted in the deaths of 24 people, including 12 children, since the onset of the monsoon season this week, according to disaster management officials.
According to Emirates News Agency, the area’s disaster management authority reported that at least 13 people have been killed in the eastern province of Punjab since Wednesday. Among these fatalities, eight were children who tragically lost their lives when walls and roofs collapsed amidst the heavy downpour.
The latest death toll comes after officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced that 11 people had succumbed to flash floods and landslides over the past 24 hours. The catastrophic flooding in the region has also damaged 56 houses, with six of them being completely destroyed, as reported by the disaster agency.
