Russia Alleges Ukrainian Attack on Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Workshop

Zaporizhzhia: Russia on Saturday accused Ukraine of attacks on a transport workshop of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), incurring damage.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian-installed management at the ZNPP stated that the strikes damaged three vehicles, fuel pumps, and the glass of the workshop building. The administration expressed concerns over the possibility of further attacks on the plant's infrastructure, as mentioned on the Russian social media platform Max.

Despite the recent strike, the power plant's operations remain under the control of its personnel, as per the statement. The plant's administration assured that the safe operation of the facility is maintained, with all necessary systems functioning normally. Furthermore, radiation levels within the plant and its surrounding area are reported to be within normal limits.

Ukraine has not yet commented on Russia's claims, and independent verification remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict. Since September 1, 2022, personnel from the UN nuclear watchdog, IAEA, have been present at the plant, which has been under Russian control since March 2022.
