Saudi PhD Student Wins 1st Place in BOMSS Conference in the UK

Saudi PhD student at the University of Nottingham Boshra Mozaffar has been awarded first place prize for her poster titled “Zinc as a Contributor of Taste Change Associated with Bariatric Surgery” at the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) conference held in Birmingham on 5 to 7 June.

Mozaffar has conducted much research in this area, including research on the effectiveness of zinc supplementation in improving the sense of taste, where she proved that high-dose zinc supplementation is an effective treatment for taste disorders in patients with zinc deficiency or idiopathic taste disorder and patients with taste disorders induced by chronic renal failure.
