SEC Forms New Emergency and Crisis Management Team in Sharjah

Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened for its regular meeting, chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council. The meeting, which took place at the Ruler’s Office, was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Council engaged in discussions on the regulation and oversight of government departments and agencies within the Emirate of Sharjah. They examined key development plans aimed at improving the quality of services offered throughout the emirate. Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Council developed a new plan to enhance the operational efficiency of government agencies by granting more authority to branch managers and staff. The goal is to better meet customer needs in a timely manner, ultimately leading to higher satisfaction.

The plan includes a strong development programme for government staff, involving training workshops for branch managers and employees. The aim is to provide a complete variety of services tailored to the unique needs of each local community. Additionally, the plan seeks to enhance the government’s ability to respond promptly and effectively to citizen needs and ensure high-quality work.

In a significant move, the Council decided to update a previous resolution from 2011 regarding the team responsible for managing emergencies, crises, and disasters in Sharjah. The new team will be led by the Chief of Sharjah Police and will include members from important local and federal government agencies holding senior positions equivalent to a Director-General. The objective is to improve preparedness and response to challenges by establishing unified procedures, plans, and practice drills throughout the emirate.

The Council also reviewed a report on the seizure of illegal and unlicensed motorcycles, bicycles, and electric bikes in Sharjah. Since the start of 2025 until August this year, 19,102 vehicles have been seized as part of a road safety campaign. Additionally, feedback from the Sharjah International Airport Authority was examined, highlighting the importance of adopting suggestions from the Sharjah Consultative Council to enhance services and support the Authority’s growth.
