Luanda: Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, announced today the signing of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM). This five-year strategic partnership is set to cover advanced technology collaboration across multiple domains, including satellite communications, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platform stations, national security drones, border control solutions, and command and control centre development.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed in Luanda in the presence of Space42’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sulaiman Al Ali, and senior Angolan military officials. Space42 already maintains a strong operational presence in Angola, providing complete coverage of the country through its YahClick satellite broadband service. This existing infrastructure will be significantly enhanced with upcoming solutions and services from the advanced Thuraya-4 satellite system, reflecting Space42’s long-term commitment to the Angolan market and marking a natural progression of the company’s growing relationship with Angola.
Sulaiman Al Ali expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its significance for Angola. He noted that the MoU represents a natural evolution of Space42’s commitment to the country, after years of serving the Angolan people through satellite services. The collaboration is expected to make a real difference not only in national security but also in the everyday lives of Angola’s people and communities. Al Ali cited the genuine interest of General Massano and his team during their visit to the UAE in how Space42’s space technology and AI solutions could benefit Angola.
The agreement is the result of high-level meetings held in the United Arab Emirates between General Joo Pereira Massano, head of Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service, and Space42’s executive leadership team. During these sessions, Space42 showcased its advanced capabilities in space-based intelligence and AI-powered solutions through live demonstrations and comprehensive product presentations, which generated significant interest from the Angolan delegation and paved the way for the deeper collaboration now formalised through this MoU.
Under the terms of the agreement, both parties will collaborate on developing and implementing solutions across seven priority areas, including advanced satellite communications technologies, high-resolution Earth observation imagery, AI-powered analytics, high-altitude platform stations, specialised drones for national security, integrated border control solutions, and the development of a centralised command and control centre.
This MoU underscores Space42’s continued expansion across Africa and demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting government partners with advanced space technology and artificial intelligence solutions.
