Sharjah: Sharjah Public Libraries (SPL) is ushering in the new academic year with a comprehensive lineup of 24 activities throughout September, offering enriching experiences in science, technology, sustainability, literature, and the arts across six library branches.
According to Emirates News Agency, the programme is strategically spread across the Sharjah, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Al Dhaid, Dibba Al Hisn, and Wadi Al Helo branches, each hosting four unique activities. These events are designed to provide practical workshops, reading sessions, field visits, discussions, and family programmes, catering to a wide audience that includes children, young adults, families, adults, and senior citizens. The initiative underscores libraries as vital hubs for lifelong learning.
The main branch of SPL kicks off on 3rd September at 16:00 with "Discover the World of Translation," offering insights into the significance of translation in bridging languages and cultures. It continues with "Our Family Stories" on 13th September at 10:00 and "Journey to the Self - Naguib Mahfouz" on 27th September at 10:00. The branch wraps up its programme on 30th September at 15:00 with "Smile, You're in Sharjah: A Community Adventure in Sustainable Tourism," featuring interactive activities focused on sustainable tourism near the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation.
The Khorfakkan branch opens on 2nd September at 10:00 with "Breath and Tranquillity," a session for women. It includes "Sustainable World" on 15th September at 10:00, which incorporates a field visit to the Khor Kalba Mangrove Centre to explore marine conservation efforts. "I Make it with Love," a biscuit-making workshop, will be conducted on 20th September at 17:00 in partnership with In Mind Caf©. The branch concludes with "Creative Pens" on 24th September at 10:00, featuring an author in collaboration with Shams Publishing House.

"My Life Experience," promoting intergenerational dialogue, is on 14th September at 10:00. Children can enjoy "Thumbelina" storytelling on 17th September at 12:00, while "Sculpting Structures," a clay-modelling workshop, concludes the branch's programme on 27th September at 19:00.
