UAE Engages in G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting

Asheville: The UAE Ministry of Finance participated in the second meeting of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Asheville, North Carolina, United States, under the United States' 2026 G20 Presidency. The meeting took place on 31st August and 1st September 2026.

According to Emirates News Agency, discussions during the meeting focused on various economic and financial issues. These included developments in the global economy, growth outlook, digital transformation and skills development, sovereign debt challenges, and measures to enhance private sector participation to support growth and investment.

Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, highlighted the need for strengthened cooperation among G20 members to achieve sustainable and balanced economic growth. He emphasized the importance of sharing best practices in government service development and future skills investment.

Al Hussaini remarked that the G20 serves as a vital platform for international cooperation and joint solutions to global economic challenges. He stressed the UAE's commitment to leveraging technology and innovation, investing in human capital, and developing future skills to build resilient and competitive economies capable of sustainable development.

The UAE showcased its initiatives in digital transformation and government service development, aimed at improving government efficiency and business ease. Additionally, the country demonstrated its programmes for skill development of national talent to meet future labor market demands.

Highlighting the significance of international cooperation, the UAE urged for addressing debt challenges and enhancing transparency to support emerging and developing economies in tackling global economic imbalances for stability and inclusive growth.

The meeting included sessions with private sector representatives on topics such as banking, artificial intelligence in healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and digital assets. Participants discussed leveraging technology and innovation to advance key sectors and support economic growth.
