Ankara: Trkiye's national football team will feel the nation's support in all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Saturday. He expressed his best wishes to the players ahead of their Group D clash with Australia on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye is making its return to the World Cup after a 24-year hiatus, having previously finished third in the 2002 World Cup. The return has ignited a wave of excitement throughout the country, with all 86 million citizens rallying behind the team.

In a video message, President Erdogan highlighted the national enthusiasm, stating, "Now is the time to write a new legend, and we will write it together," as he recalled Trkiye's remarkable success in the 2002 tournament.
